Post your picks for one or both of these contests here. New participants are welcome to join at any time! --- Best of the Rest Contest --- - Pick one driver who is not among the 16 playoff drivers. - Earn points based on this driver's finishing position ranked only among non-playoff drivers, using the old Latford point system (175 points for 1st down to 100 points for 21st and below, or if you miss a race). --- Overachiever of the Race Contest --- - Owner Standings: www.jayski.com/stats/2018/pdfs/35phx2018owners.pdf- Your goal is to pick a driver (chartered teams only) who you think will finish well above his team's current position in the standings. - Receive points based on that team's owner point position prior to the race minus their finishing position. You cannot pick the same team in two consecutive races. Current Standings:

So it looks like Minnowfur has locked up the Best of the Rest Contest, correct?
But then the top 12 are still mathematically eligible in the Overachiever Fall Championship, and the top 3 are still eligible for the Full Season Championship.
This has been an exciting season of fantasy racing, thanks for creating & managing these games.
I'll post my picks once the entry list is released.

I just wanted to take a moment to echo JSPorts. Even when I'm not interested enough in Cup races to tune in live, this game has given me reasons to check results and gives me someone to root for when I do watch. It's been a blast to play in!
I'm also looking forward to splitting the $10,000 prize pool between full time participants of the Overachiever Game. Obviously, I am not going to win the $5,000 grand prize but I'll still get a nice Cher.

I mentioned that in the Phoenix thread but I didn't mention it here. I appreciate your kind words (and Justin's as well) and I am thankful for all of the participation we've gotten this year! Even though I don't care for a lot of things going on in today's NASCAR, I still enjoy following the sport statistically, running these contests, trying to come up with new/creative/different contest ideas that don't just focus on the cars at the front, and playing around in Excel to find ways to calculate each week's scores quickly. All of that has been a lot of fun for me this year. I plan to continue the Overachiever contest next year and run different contests alongside it throughout the season. I'll post more details on that next week!

Be sure to check in after the race at Homestead for another post recapping the season's champions and taking a look ahead to 2019!

Overachiever contest update:
Based on my pick for this week since I am currently in first place (#15, ranked 32nd), and based on the current 39-car entry list, the worst score I can get is -7. Realistically, the best score anyone else could get is about +25. That is a 32-point swing.
Based on that, the top 2 are still in contention for the win in the year-long standings, and the top 4 are still in contention in the fall standings. The #19 and #17 encountering trouble at Phoenix definitely made this contest less exciting than it otherwise might have been in the final race. But, that's racing, and that's just the way it goes sometimes.

Yeah I had planned on going with Byron last week which would have made it only a couple of points swing in your favour and made it a close fight. But I thought he was too much of a risk and went with Suarez who looked good at Phoenix. Daniel running into the back of your pick Matt Kenseth sucked.

I might change one of these tomorrow, but it's late, so I'll submit these now in case I forget.
