Hi Mile - something you may already be well aware of, but in the unlikely event that NASCAR makes a fuss about the R-R comments you might remind them that under copyright law copyright resides with the creator (i.e. the author of a text) unless it's explicitly assigned to another party; and that since R-R didn't even have a registration or login, there is no way an author could have assigned copyright to NASCAR.

Hmm, much as I hate to say it, but it doesn't seem like this is working out as a replacement for R-R. Nobody but me has posted - even Mile is still beating the dead horse over at R-R. A shame, there needs to be a place to talk racing that's a bit less chaotic than reddit.

I have posted some at www.racing-forums.com but that doesn't seem to be a very statistics-oriented community. I do have a website set up at www.racinghistory.info but I'm still working on it and trying to figure out what all I want do with it. I may set up a forum on there--but would anyone post on it? It's hard to say.

Can someone who is active in the Discord chat share the link for the website that I am working on as an RR comment archive? Thank you! www.racinghistory.info

I just saw this thread, and I might be interested in posting on the new forum sometimes (depending on my schedule).
I've been archiving the track comments on the Wayback Machine, and so far I'm up to about track 124. (They seem to be in order of state for the first ones with races on Racing-Reference, and probably after that in the order they were added to the site.)
I also archived a lot of the blog posts (except for some of the mid-season posts from fantasy leagues), and a lot of others were already archived around 2017. (There might still be a few from 2017 and earlier that didn't get archived yet, or that I forgot to include from later months.) For some of them I also archived the comments, although that depends on the month and is somewhat random.
Other race results should be relatively easy to archive rapidly if you find the abbreviation letter for the series and keep changing the year and race number until you find one that has no race name (which likely means you reached the end of the season). I created an account at the Wayback Machine, which let me tell it to also archive any outlinks it found, including the "next page" and "view all comments" lists for pages with more than 500 comments.

Carllong - Discord is structureless in that it's real-time discussion. It doesn't lend itself to a thread for every driver, or every historical race, which is something a more rigidly structured board could. Each has it's place, and probably one of the reasons NASCAR killed comments in R-R is the real-time race discussion that went on (that, and of course NASCAR hates their fans). Discord does have a thread feature now, which would allow us to make a thread any time we want to discuss a certain driver, and have one channel for all the threads about a certain topic (drivers, teams, crew chiefs, other people, races, tracks, etc). Threads on Discord close after 24 hours of inactivity, but I think it's possible to reactivate them, and if not, we could make a new thread or send temporary messages to keep the thread going.

It seems that comments and blogs have now been removed entirely from RR as of last week.

If anyone reads this, I have set up a forum at racinghistory.net which I hope can somehow revive the old RR community, if that's even possible. Archived comments and blog posts are there as well. Please join me over there and spread the word!

I only made it to track 137 (I kept procrastinating and have regretted it ever since), and got an error message when I tried to archive track 138 on January 9th. I saw you have comments from other tracks on your new site, though, and I was overjoyed when I saw someone had preserved them!
