This is the first time since 1992 that Wrangler has been a primary sponsor in the Cup Series, or on a Ford. The last time was in the 1992 season finale, with Bobby Hillin Jr. in the #90 for Junie Donlavey. Hillin had an engine failure and finished 30th, one position ahead of Jeff Gordon (in his first start), and one position behind Ernie Irvan (who was in the wreck that ended Davey Allison's championship hopes).

Joe Nemechek's win (mentioned in the original post) is one of the (relatively few) great moments in NASCAR's chase era that I remember. In the midst of the first Chase for the Championship, two drivers that weren't even in the top 20 in points (Nemechek and Ricky Rudd) were battling hard for that win. I miss the days when a 20th-place team could legitimately contend for a win on occasion; we don't really see that anymore.

I picked Kyle Larson for the poll question. He led 101 laps at Kansas in the spring before getting caught up in a wreck and seems like he's due for a win.

I think Larson could definitely win, but this also seems like a race where Keselowski pulls some sort of wild magic out of his ass to advance.

Keselowski's not that good at Kansas. I'd say it's much more likely from Blaney (who has run very well here in the past) or Larson (see what he did in the spring.)

Not quite, the JTG cars run different schemes every race. Last year, I think Buescher ran 36 different cars.

Not quite, the JTG cars run different schemes every race. Last year, I think Buescher ran 36 different cars. Actually from jayski I count 15 different paint schemes for Chris in 2017. The #47 doesn't count because they rarely change their base scheme it is the sponsors that change.

Menard's did a similar thing where the sponsor on the hood was different almost every week but it was the same base scheme when Paul was in the #27. I don't know if they've done it this year split between the #12 and #21

I predict they won't qualify for any of them (unless only 40 cars show up), then they'll buy a charter in the offseason (#23?) and race full-time next year no matter how slow they are.
