Looks like Matte Black for the last run. First time in over a year they have run that colour.

Sorry guys. Apparently there will be a tribute decal on all cars though. I would say that's a bad omen for Menard, but is there anything worse that could happen on Sunday than this?

I remember that probably the second most noteworthy thing to happen to him in his Cup career the first being his Indy fuel mileage win.

Here's my prediction: Truex & Logano run from 5th-15th all day and never truly factor into the championship picture. Harvick dominates the race, and Busch starts out slow. Harvick wins stage 1, while Busch finishes in the top 10. Harvick wins stage 2, while Busch & Adam Stevens improve on their car and finish in the top 5. The 18 team continues to improve on their car throughout the race, and a caution comes out to set up a late restart. Harvick has a slow stop, and Busch beats him out of pit road. Busch then holds him off for the title.

What a joke. Three guys with a combined 20 wins are racing for the title and the guy who was AT BEST the sixth best driver of the year wins it. That's all I'm going to say.

Of the four championship contenders, one drives for Joe Gibbs (Kyle Busch), one will drive for Gibbs next year (Truex), one used to drive for Gibbs (Logano), and one was rumored to drive for Gibbs several years ago (Harvick, in mid-2005).
Also, they each would be driving a different number for Gibbs (Busch in the #18, Truex in the #19, Logano in the #20, and Harvick in the #11).

Kyle Busch scored the most points this season. He probably would've been the most deserving champion. He ends up 4th in points. However, this makes up for 2015, in my opinion. As Sean has said recently, which I agree with, I'm more concerned about how many titles a driver should've won than the specific years they win those titles. Busch = 1, Truex = 1, Logano = 0, Harvick = 3. But Harvick's still sitting at 1 and so is Logano. What a joke.

Also:
2014: Full-season standings: Jeff Gordon 1st, Kevin Harvick 5th Playoff standings: Kevin Harvick 1st, Jeff Gordon 6th
2015: Full-season standings: Kevin Harvick 1st, Kyle Busch 20th Playoff standings: Kyle Busch 1st, Kevin Harvick 2nd
2016: Full-season standings: Kevin Harvick 1st, Jimmie Johnson 8th Playoff standings: Jimmie Johnson 1st, Kevin Harvick 8th
2017: Full-season standings/playoff standings: Martin Truex, Jr. 1st
2018: Full-season standings: Kyle Busch 1st, Joey Logano 4th Playoff standings: Joey Logano 1st, Kyle Busch 4th
As you can see, the only year in which the playoff champion was also the full-season champion was in 2017. That's why Truex is thus far the most legitimate champion under this system. However, Logano's 4th-place finish in full-season points is the 2nd-highest of any playoff champion since this format began. Kyle Busch's 4th-place finish was the 3rd-highest for a full-season champion in the playoffs under this format. This is the worst championship in all of racing and the worst playoff in sports.

Some interesting numerology surrounding Matt Kenseth's 15-race season:
He started 17th 5 times, matching his longtime car number during his first stint with Roush. Two of those 17th-place starts were in his final two races.
He crashed out in his first start of the season, but finished 17th in his second race, the Coca-Cola 600, where he earned his first career victory in the #17 car 18 years before.
He finished 7th in his penultimate race at Phoenix, the site of his final career win a year before, and matching the car number of fellow Wisconsin driver Alan Kulwicki.
He finished 6th in his last-ever start, matching his current car number and the car number of his mentor Mark Martin.
His last two races were by far his best finishes of the season, showing that perhaps he has accomplished his goal of helping Roush improve, even if that improvement came more slowly than he had hoped.

It's very ironic that Kenseth's final race is the race in which Logano wins his first "championship."

Well, that officially does it. A season dominated by 2 drivers, with a third who occasionally looked on-par with them, produces a champion who is none of the three.
