Regarding Kurt Busch, it’s always kind of felt like SHR (well at least Stewart) never really wanted him there. Remember he was a 100% Haas hiring and Stewart had been saying he didn’t want to expand to four cars (which was why Newman had to leave) and then they wouldn’t sign Kurt to a long-term deal after last year either. Good point. I do remember that Stewart never seemed to want him there.

Funny thing after college I almost got a job with Deloitte.
It's about damn time NASCAR is looking into a spending car (though it really should have been the criteria for teams getting charters to begin with).

After yesterday's news, here are the full-time teams we know for 2019 (30):
#2 Brad Keselowski #3 Austin Dillon #4 Kevin Harvick #6 Ryan Newman #9 Chase Elliott #10 Aric Almirola #11 Denny Hamlin #12 Ryan Blaney #13 Ty Dillon #14 Clint Bowyer #15 Ross Chastain #17 Ricky Stenhouse Jr. #18 Kyle Busch #19 Martin Truex Jr. #20 Erik Jones #21 Paul Menard #22 Joey Logano #24 William Byron #31 Daniel Hemric #34 Michael McDowell #36 Matt Tifft #37 Chris Buescher #38 David Ragan #42 Kyle Larson #43 Darrell Wallace Jr. #47 Ryan Preece #48 Jimmie Johnson #88 Alex Bowman #95 Matt DiBenedetto #97 Tanner Berryhill
Other expected full-time teams: #00 StarCom Racing, #1 Chip Ganassi Racing, #32 Go Fas Racing, #41 Stewart-Haas Racing, #51 Rick Ware Racing, #52 Rick Ware Racing, #72 TriStar Motorsports
That would give us a total of 37 full-time teams. Not sure if we'll end up with that many, as I highly doubt RWR has 2 full-time cars, TriStar returns and Obaika actually runs the full schedule (not that I don't think any of those will happen, just think it's unlikely that ALL THREE will happen.)

After Kurt Busch retires, there will be no one racing full-time in Cup who competed against Dale Earnhardt. Kurt Busch is the last remaining full-time Cup driver who raced in Cup prior to 2001. www.racing-reference.info/race/2000_NAPA_500/Wwww.racing-reference.info/race/2001_Daytona_500/WThere are still a few drivers left who raced at Rockingham and who raced prior to the chase, but it won't be too long before there will be no Cup drivers remaining who did either of those things.

Ryan Newman competed at Phoenix in 2000 against Earnhardt so technically one other driver. He clearly seems to be at the tail end of his career also though.

There are some others who also competed against Earnhardt way back, like Cope. But he's not full-time, obviously.

Kurt hasn't been confirmed to be retiring, it's just "believed" that he will. And there are quite a few younger drivers who have raced at Rockingham in Trucks (Larson, Logano, Chase Elliott, Ty Dillon, Erik Jones, Ryan Blaney, Tyler Reddick), just not in Cup.

I'm still skeptical of any organization that Ty Norris is involved in.
