Suarez was the weak link at Gibbs, and he'd likely still be the weak link at SHR. His Gibbs teammates have an average points total of 1021; Suarez sits at 627 (-394). If he ran the same in relation to Harvick, Almirola & Bowyer next year (assuming SHR keeps going at this pace), he'd sit at 661 points (17th in the standings) and would've missed out on the playoffs again. I don't know that signing him is a good idea for the team's, but I guess money talks.

Now that you mention it, has anyone ever seen the two of them in the same room together?

Gateway sounds serious about getting a Cup race. I think it would be great to see them have a midweek summer race under the lights. That's a market that deserves a Cup event.

So GMAC is back at Hendrick (albeit under a new name), for the first time since 2007! And for all 38 races! (That's even more than they did in 2004-2007.) Not as iconic a sponsor as we were hoping, but it is an indirect spinoff of GM. Edit: I forgot that GMAC also sponsored Hendrick in the lower series from 1999-2003 (and got two championships).

Come to think of it, they probably left because they went bankrupt [edit: had financial problems due to the recession].
